“Castle” ABC TV Series starring Nathan Fillion » About Castle

Filed under: Firefly — doctorfeelgood @ 2:38 pm

Castle is a witty drama based on a famous mystery novelist who helps the NYPD homicide department solve crimes.Nick Castle [Nathan Fillion] had grown weary of having it all, “fame, fans and females”, until he was approached by the attractive Detective Kate Beckett [Stana Katic] of the NYPD to help catch the copy-cat killer staging murders based on scenes from his novels.Castle’s approach to solving the crimes conflicts with Beckett’s conservative approach leading to much tension and a hint of romance.Keeping Castle grounded are his mother [Susan Sullivan], teenage daughter Alexis [Molly C. Quinn], poker playing friends James Patterson, Sue Grafton, and Stephen King and his ex wife Gina [Monet Mazur] who is also his editor.Ruben Santiago-Hudson will play the Police Chief.Castle is directed by Rob Bowman whose credits include Day Break, Night Stalker andX-Files and is produced by Andrew Marlowe, Armyan Bernstein, Laurie Zaks and Rob Bowman.

Jewel Staite sets us, um, Straight

Filed under: Firefly — doctorfeelgood @ 5:46 pm

“Sorry Browncoats, but it just ain’t so. This rumor all started a few weeks back when Alan Tudyk made some comments that were taken out of context and presumed to be talk of a sequel. Some other speculators were claiming that it was just a big, confusing rumor to begin with anyway and apparently that was the case. The update comes from the girl who plays Kaylee, named Jewel Staite in real life, who wrote a blog update (via CinemaBlend) about the whole fiasco. ”

More ‘Chuck’!

Awesome – I like all of these shows!

Kristin of E!Online reports that three additional scripts have been ordered for “Chuck”, along with orders for “Bionic Woman”, “Cane” and “Journeyman”. Nice to see the networks cautiously optimistic about these shows.

Serenity Sequel?

Filed under: Firefly — doctorfeelgood @ 1:18 pm

I know this is beating a dead horse, but another rumor has been kicked up out of the dust and this time it may be a bit more reliable, and I just can’t resist. The guys over at Moviehole.net have a quote from Alan Tudyk (who plays Wash) where he claims that the recent buzz regarding the re-release of the Serenity DVD is causing Universal to consider making another one.

Update: Clint, the writer who conducted the interview over at Moviehole, has informed us in the comments below that this is all up-to-date and completely real. It’s all just in Universal’s hands now, as Alan makes it sound like they’re very interested.

Serenity Special Edition DVD Week 1

Filed under: Cool Stuff, Firefly — doctorfeelgood @ 7:06 am

Sales for Serenity SE DVD are awesome – “According to The Numbers website, the DVD debuted at no. 25 on their sales chart and sold an estimated 39,410 copies. For it’s first week of release, it made approximately $706,097”  I don’t know if that is enough to get Universal to make the sequel, but to me it seems like a pile of cash for a cancelled TV-come-Movie.  I am a schmuck and haven’t bought mine yet – some browncoat I am  . . .

Snippet from DVDTalk Review of Serenity: Special Edition

Filed under: Firefly — doctorfeelgood @ 6:29 pm

With some of the wittiest dialogue you’ll ever hear, compelling characters, surprisingly strong special effects sequences, and a genuinely moving story, Serenity is everything a big-budget blockbuster should be (and at a fraction of the budget). That it still has yet to reach so many people who would almost certainly enjoy it is truly unfortunate, for it isn’t just a great science fiction film or a great action adventure film. It is simply a great film. Whether you are a fan of the series or haven’t heard about it until now, whether you like science fiction or typically shy away from it, Serenity is the very essence of entertainment. In the simplest of terms, Serenity is just plain fun.
