A New Knight Rider!!!!

Filed under: Cool Stuff — doctorfeelgood @ 8:36 pm

NBC has attached director Doug Liman to helm a two-hour pilot for a revamped Knight Rider, according to Variety.

The article states that the goal is to make the show a “Transformers-inspired reworking” of the role that The Hoff made famous.

There is a likely chance the two-hour telefilm/pilot will be picked up by NBC and turned into a series. Whether this means all 70s/80s SciFi shows are going to be revamped and become “Transformers-inspired” has yet to be seen.

But the article hints that KITT and other “evil cars” may, in fact, transform.

Liman has previously directed The Bourne Identity and Mr. and Mrs. Smith”

LOL Laptop Stealers (alleged)

Ha. I didn’t actually laugh out loud but I did snicker . . .

It only took a few days, but the now infamous internet shirtless photo up loader has officially been lol’d. In true lolcat fashion, we have two images [compliments of Standard Grey on Flickr] of the inked wonderpup; naturally complete with Impact font and standardized intentionally bad spelling.

FirstShowing.Net – Terminator 4

“Ever since the news hit about the Terminator series continuing, it has been rather quiet. Finally an update today comes from James Middleton, a producer on the TV series “The Sarah Connor Chronicles”, who is also overseeing the development of Terminator 4. Middleton confirms via IGN that T4 is still happening and aiming to be in pre-production by this October for a 2009 release. The script is being written by Michael Ferris and John D. Brancato, who co-wrote Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, and that no director has been chosen yet.”

See, I Told You The Health System In Canada is not better than Down Here

The AVERAGE is 13 hours – not the maximum.  Now do you believe me?

A new report says the Calgary Health Region needs to do a better job co-ordinating emergency services after a number of patients complained and average wait times jumped to 13 hours last year

Sling goes under before I can buy one . . . or enough other people

Filed under: Cool Stuff — doctorfeelgood @ 11:24 am

I love the idea of watching live or TiVo’ed content anywhere in the world with internet access.  Trouble is, it costs too much for most people so Sling decide to give in.  Oh well . . .

EchoStar’s $380 million purchase of Sling Media once again raises the question of whether a consumer TV-device company can exist as a standalone entity. History has not been kind to such companies trying to break out from the startup field. Akimbo anyone? TiVo has also certainly seen its share of ups and downs (mostly downs).

25 Clever Puns That Will Make Your Friends Smile

I think that some of these are HI-larious.

“Rudy Giuliani’s a transvestite–he likes to eat, drink and be Mary.

These dozen words contain all the elements of the classic homophonic pun–an anecdotal play on words exploiting the difference in meanings between words that sound alike but have different spellings. Also called “groaners,” puns come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from simple one-liners to long, involved anecdotes that lead to the traditional punch line. The amount of groaning usually is directly proportional to the length of the pun”.

More News From Home: Goodbye meters, hello parking revolution

Filed under: Cool Stuff — doctorfeelgood @ 8:35 pm

Calgary heralded a new era in downtown parking Thursday, implementing a solar-powered system that will replace 2,000 coin-operated meters.

Mayor Dave Bronconnier called the high-tech pay stations a “revolution in parking” as he demonstrated their benefits for reporters. The new system accepts cash, credit-card or cellphone payments.

Calgary has patented its new computerized parking system.Calgary has patented its new computerized parking system.

Each street is split up into zones, with one or two machines on each street, which seems to be confusing for first-time users.

“I couldn’t find any parking meters on the street so I was a little confused,” said Marlene Nelson. “It took me a while to check and recheck the signs to make sure that I wasn’t going to be towed.”

A driver must punch in the zone where the vehicle’s parked, the vehicle’s licence plate number, the time and the method of payment.

$1 Cdn = $1 US

The Canadian dollar reached parity with the U.S. greenback on Thursday for the first time in almost 31 years, capping a spectacular run that has seen it rise 62 per cent since 2002.

The loonie briefly reached $1.0003 US on foreign exchange markets shortly before 11 a.m. ET, the Bank of Canada said. The loonie’s stint at parity was brief, however, as it later slipped back to just under $1 US.
